Dr Steven Marsland

Chiropractor & Functional Medicine – Abu Dhabi

Helping people move better, feel better, and function at their best – naturally.

Personalised chiropractic care and in-depth functional medicine, for people seeking lasting, meaningful change.

Many people come to see me because something doesn’t feel right in their body — pain that keeps returning, stiffness that limits movement, or a sense that their health could be better than it is.

My role is to help you understand what’s going on, support your body’s ability to function well, and guide you towards meaningful, sustainable improvement.

Who I Work With

People come to see me for many different reasons, but often it’s because something isn’t working as well as it should.

I commonly support people dealing with things such as:

  • Back, neck, shoulder, or joint pain

  • Stiffness or restricted movement

  • Postural strain from desk work or daily life

  • Sports or activity-related injuries

  • Fatigue, stress, or burnout

  • Digestive or hormone-related concerns

  • Wanting to improve health, movement, and long-term performance

Care is always tailored to the individual and their specific needs.

How I Work

My approach is thoughtful, personalised, and focused on long-term outcomes.  Care is always guided by the individual in front of me, not a fixed protocol or predefined pathway.

I offer two distinct forms of care: chiropractic and functional medicine. Each has a different focus, and people come to me for different reasons.

Chiropractic care

Chiropractic care focuses on movement, alignment, and nervous system function. It is hands-on and practical, helping to reduce pain, improve mobility, and support how the body adapts to physical and postural stress.

Some people choose chiropractic care on its own, whether for pain, movement issues, or maintaining and optimising physical function.

Functional Medicine

Functional medicine consultations are separate and take a broader, systems-based view of health. They focus on understanding how factors such as nutrition, lifestyle, stress, sleep, and biochemistry may be influencing overall health, using a personalised and investigative approach.

Some people choose chiropractic care, others engage solely in functional medicine. Some benefit from a combination of both. Care is always guided by the individual’s needs, goals, and circumstances.

About Dr Steve

Learn more about my background, experience, and approach to care.

I bring nearly two decades of clinical experience, combining chiropractic care and functional medicine to help people move better, feel better and function at their best.

Experience & Approach

With nearly two decades of clinical experience, I’ve worked with people at many different stages of health — from those dealing with pain or restricted movement, to individuals looking to improve how they feel, move, and function in daily life.

I trained in the UK and have practised internationally, including well-over a decade working in Abu Dhabi. My training is grounded in chiropractic care, alongside advanced certification in functional medicine, allowing me to work with people using different approaches depending on their needs.

Above all, I value taking the time to listen, understand the individual in front of me, and offer care that is thoughtful, evidence-informed, and appropriate to their circumstances. Appointments are unhurried, with time taken to discuss options and decide what feels appropriate.

What To Expect

When you come in, the focus is on understanding you as an individual — not rushing through a standard process.

Appointments begin with time to talk. We’ll discuss your concerns, your health history, and what you’d like to improve, before moving into an appropriate assessment. From there, care is guided by what is most relevant for your needs and goals.

Chiropractic appointments focus on movement, alignment, and nervous system function, and are hands-on and practical in nature.  Functional medicine consultations are separate and take a broader, systems-based view, with more time dedicated to exploring factors such as nutrition, lifestyle, stress, sleep, and underlying health patterns.

In all cases, recommendations are explained clearly, with time to ask questions and decide on next steps.

You can expect:

  • Time to talk and be listened to

  • A thoughtful, individualised assessment

  • Clear explanations and options

  • Care that feels appropriate, not excessive

The aim is for you to leave feeling informed, reassured, and clear about the next steps.
